Bolton's Bob Parkins (far left) returned to the CrossCurrents Cafe stage last Friday night, this time bringing the vibraphone, for a classic jazz sound rarely heard today. He and bassist Bob Hewus are the senior members of the group. Guitarist Jake Franiczek and drummer Justin McHugh are two generations younger. The mix of older and younger was very rich, imaginative and compelling, and the audience response reflected the brilliance and energy of the playing.
