Many in the community were out to the Don Sheardown Memorial Arena in Bolton over the weekend for the 2017 Caledon Home and Lifestyle Show, put on by the Caledon Chamber of Commerce. The floor included a host of booths displaying numerous items for the home, as well as other things of interest. There was lots of information about Caledon Meals on Wheels being provided by Board member Robert Allen and Executive Director Christine Sevigny at this booth, sponsored by James Dick Concrete and Aggregates.

Mayor Allan Thompson was at the Home Show Friday night, making the rounds of the floor with Chamber of Commerce President Warren Darnley.

Information about various Town of Caledon programs and services was available at this booth, manned here by Fire Inspector Scott Gilbert, interim chief building official Angie Mitchell and Plans Examiner Elizabeth Orefice.

Sarah Fleming of Fleming Realty Inc. in Bolton was sitting on this patio set, which was the subject of a raffle. It was won by Ron and Judy Clayton of Caledon East.

Chloe Seipt, 4, spent part of Saturday greeting people at the door of the show with handfuls of little goodies.

In a new wrinkle, this year’s show was pet friendly, so it attracted a lot of four-legged visitors. The dog-rescue organization Coveted Canines was on hand with some dogs who were available for adoption. Amber Warren was playing with Xavi, a terrier mix who’s about a year old.

Friends of the Caledon Public Library held their annual Book Sale on the floor of the homes show, and they attracted lots of customers. Charline Bell, 4, of Alliston couldn’t wait to get home to start reading this book. It was How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Shelley Depalma and Lucy Brooks were at the booth for Prudential Select Real Estate Brokerage.

Ralph Bakker and Bruce Payne of Gutter Pros of Ontario were manning this booth.

Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson is currently in Europe, so he wasn’t able to attend the show, but he did have a booth, which others manned in his absence, including his constituency assistant Nicole Robins.

Anyone who needed a quick drink of water at the show could get one from Shelley Young at the Culligan booth.

The Alpha Dogs Robotics Team from Humberview Secondary School were on hand with some of the creations they have been working on. Their recent efforts saw them finish 12th in the Provincial Championships, which means they qualified for the World Championships, which take place later this month in St. Louis. The members seen here are Gavin Goddard, Adam Borrie, Andrew Champ, Erin Fraser, Joshua Illingworth, Beth McFadyen, Stefani Matis and Ashley Hutchins.

For hungry show-goers, there was a barbecue outside the hall. Terri Devereaux, of Hickory Dickory Decks, was working at the grill helping to raise funds for the Challenger program being offered by Bolton Baseball Association.

Clara Corradi and Branch Manager Marisa Kennedy were on hand, representing the Bolton TD branch.
