Peel provides funding to homeowners for renovations including second units

The Region of Peel is offering up to $15,000 to eligible low-to-moderate income individuals and families, including seniors, who need to renovate their homes to address safety and accessibility concerns.
As well, up to $25,000 is available to eligible homeowners who are renovating an existing second unit to improve health and safety, increase accessibility and register it.
Applications must be made online at peelregion.ca/housing/peelrenovates/ starting April 4. Both programs are first-come, first-served. Home renovation funding is available until April 21 or until funding runs out. Second unit renovation assistance is available until funding runs out. Demand for these programs is expected to be high, so applicants are urged to apply early to avoid disappointment.
To receive homeowner renovation assistance, applicants must:
• Have an annual household income of no more than $60,000 (gross income);
• Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant;
• Own and live in their home in Peel (with a maximum value of $685,189 in Caledon);
• Need renovations or repairs in at least one of the following areas: accessibility, safety, structural, electrical, plumbing or heating.
To receive second unit renovation assistance, applicants must:

• Own and live in their home in Peel, with a maximum value of $750,000
• Require renovations or repairs to an existing second unit in at least one of the following areas: accessibility, safety, structural, electrical, plumbing or heating.
