158th annual Bolton Fall Fair goes this weekend

Three days of agricultural displays, entertainment and fun await this weekend.
The Albion and Bolton Agricultural Society will be presenting the 158th edition of the Bolton Fall Fair. It will open tomorrow (Friday) evening and close Sunday afternoon.
The theme of the Fair this year is “Sew it, grow it, show it.”
As usual, there will be lot of competitions in the agricultural area. There will also be opportunities to try some new experiences, like axe throwing.
New this year will be demonstrations of axe throwing by the Backyard Axe Throwing League (BATL). Their mission is to show people the power of being good to each other, using the axe as a tool to build community inspired by backyard roots.
The demonstrations will be taking place Saturday along the track at the Fairgrounds.
Friday night will be a busy time at the Fair. The opening ceremonies will start at 6;30 p.m, and that will include the crowning of the Fair Ambassadors.
A big attraction for the evening will be the annual Demolition Derby, which will go rain or shine, starting at 7:30 p.m. It will be a great opportunity to see some cars getting wrecked.
Saturday will feature the Dairy Show, which is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. in the Arena. The Arena will be the scene that afternoon for the Sheep Show. It will begin at 1 p.m.
There will be lots of other interesting animals to see too. Reptilia will be presenting a Large Animal Shows on the stage, starting at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with meet and greet sessions starting a half hour before each show.
The Caledon Cruisers will be hosting a Car Show from noon to 5 p.m.
There will also be some fun activities to try, such as riding a mechanical bull. That will be going on between 1 and 9 p.m. beside the main stage.
As well, there will be a Spaghetti Eating Contest starting at 5 p.m. on the main stage, and an Arm-Wrestling Competition at 6 in the Bavarian Gardens.
The track will be the location of a 4-H Garden Tractor Pull at 4:30 p.m., followed by a Truck Pull at 7:30.
There will be the draw for the 2016 Lincoln MKC SUV, which is being raffled off in support of Bethell Hospice. The draw is set for 3 p.m.
There will also be perfomances that evening by local bands Highway 50 at 6:30 and Ocean Buddah at 8:45.
Things will be getting off to an early start Sunday with a pancake breakfast, starting at 8 a.m.
A Community Church Service will take place at 9:30.
Agricultural events will include the Goat Show, which will start at 11 a.m. in the Arena.
Cow Polp Bingo will also be taking place at 11.
The Beef Show will start at 1 p.m.
Reptilia will be back Sunday with shows at 11 and 1:30 p.m.
Sunday will also see the Kiddie Pedal Pull at 11:15 a.m., a Milking Competition at 12:30 p.m., a Bike Rally and Tug of War at 1 p.m. and a Parade of Tractors at 2:30.
The Fairgrounds are on Queen Street South in Bolton, at the top of the south hill on the west side.
