August is membership month, which means it’s time to celebrate Rotary, our club, our members, and the good we do in our community, as well as around the world.
It is also time to think a little more about bringing in new members. An important aspect of growing membership in Rotary is simple attraction — make sure friends, colleagues, neighbours, business associates, customers, etc. all know that you are a proud Rotarian and invite them to enquire about our organization.
Since it is membership month in the Rotary Calendar, I thought it would be an ideal time to review membership in Rotary. There are currently more than 1,228,000 members of Rotary around the world in over 35,000 clubs. In addition to this, there are over 8,400 Rotaract Clubs (clubs within a University or College) with more than 194,000 members. Our District, 7080 has 49 clubs and 5 Rotaract clubs as part of the Rotary International World. I believe there are over 2,000 Rotarians in our District alone.
Last, and certainly not least, our club currently has 32 members.
All in all, there are many good people doing good things for their local communities, and the world community as proud Rotarians.
What can we do as Rotarians? Well a few thoughts would be to wear your Rotary pin and perhaps clothing with a Rotary Logo, display an “I Am A Proud Rotarian” window sticker on your car window, or perhaps just say it loud and clear, I am a proud Rotarian. Please think about it.
What can you do as someone who is interested in learning more about Rotary and membership? Please visit www.rotaryclubofpalgrave.com for more information on our club and all the wonderful ways you could get involved.
