We live in a beautiful world.
Our world has a lot of natural beauty, such as the beaches of Bermuda and the Caribbean, the Coral Reef in Australia, lots of beautiful rock formations in places like New Zealand and Australia and the Rocky Mountains in Canada. We have been blessed by individuals who spent their lives improving the world for the rest of them. I am thinking of such names as Nelson Mandela (one of my heroes), Martin Luther King, Sir Frederick Banting and Mother Theresa.
There are more than one million Rotarians around the world who are trying to improve the quality of life around them. The most well known project is the near eradication of polio in conjunction with the Bill Gates foundation.
Our Rotary Club membership is comprised of individuals who are trying to improve the quality of our life internationally and locally. Some of these international projects include supporting water quality projects in Guantamela and Honduras, Healing Little Hearts in India and supporting education facilities around the world. Locally we support the mentally ill at Peace Ranch, kids with cancer at Camp Ooch, high school students through scholarships and other projects and local scouts and guides.
We all should be proud of the many things we do to make this world a more beautiful place.
