The Rotary Club of Palgrave went on the road to Caledon East April 6 and hosted an Open House at St. James’ Anglican Church.
We were honoured to welcome 20 new friends to the meeting who were interested in learning more about all that Rotary does and is.
At the Open House, we learned the history of Rotary International, the history of our Club and learned about all the wonderful things Rotary has done in the community of Caledon and abroad since our beginnings.
There was much discussion and fellowship, and new friends were made.
We heard from two local organizations who have benefitted from the service of Rotary: White Birch, an all-day program in Palgrave open to all those with special needs without restriction and is affiliated with the Carson Foundation; and the Palgrave Youth Sports organization (headed by Sindy and Isaak Dyck). Carter Dyck, a participant in Palgrave Youth Baseball, gave a wonderful speech (as only an eight-year old can) highlighting how much he loves being able to play baseball with his friends every Wednesday in the summer and even promised to try to hit as many home runs as the Blue Jays.
It was a wonderful night in Caledon East and we thank the community for allowing us to visit. We hope that we were able to share our passion for Rotary while we were there!
