Stiffer enforcement needed

March 17, 2016   ·   0 Comments

It’s a sad day when our local law enforcement can’t control or patrol the truck ban that exists on Queen Street through Bolton.
Every morning when I enter Queen, I observe big-rig tractor trailers driving on the banned section of the road.
When I asked a local police officer recently, he stated there was only a $100 fine and that didn’t deter the truck drivers from using the road. He also gave the excuse their GPS only indicated the banned route as an option.
What was the point of the truck ban? You either have zero tolerance or scrap the idea. Maybe a stiffer fine might work as well. Let’s just wait until another accident in town when someone gets seriously hurt or killed to see any positive action.
I don’t expect to see any change as a result of my comments, as my family has lived in Bolton for more than 25 years and have seen a lot of change, and not all for the good.
