Schomberg area residents are letting officials know that they are not ready to sit back and allow Keith Constantin to remain in the area.
About a dozen people, mostly parents, picketed the alleged home of the convicted sex offender Saturday. He was moved to the residence in December after being driven out of Hamilton where his offences occurred. He was let out of prison after serving time for numerous sex attacks, some against children, and has been deemed a high risk to re-offend.
The home, which sits far back from the road near the border of Caledon and King, was quiet while protestors braved the cold temperatures for several hours, holding signs and pointing at the residence. They encouraged drivers to honk as they passed to show their support.
One resident, who preferred not to be named, said there were plenty of honks.
“We want him out of here, I don’t think there is anyone that would actually want him here,” she said. “For him to be so close to town is scary.”
She said it was the second protest in front of the residence, the first taking place the Saturday prior.
The resident also said there are plans to protest the offices of Christian Horizons, the non-profit organization that runs the group home.
“We’re definitely not done,” she said. “We’ll be out here again.”
