Lots of pond hockey fun at Alton Mill

The weather’s been cold enough to freeze the pond at Alton Mill, setting the scene for the seventh annual Alton Millpond Hockey Classic Saturday. The main event of the day was a game between the Caledon Notables and the Caledon Hawks AAAAAAA team. The Noteables took the trophy, winning the match with a 14-11 final. On hand for the trophy presentation was Councillor Doug Beffort, Former NHL goalie Dave Dryden, Councillor Jennifer Innis, Caledon OPP Inspector Tim Melanson, Deputy Fire Chief and coach Mark Wallace, Manager of Economic Development Norm Lingard, Councillor Gord McClure, Matthew Strader, Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones, Deputy Fire Chief Darryl Bailey, Ian Todhunter and event co-chair Randy Ugolini. Caledon’s Town Crier Andrew Welch took time to get into his uniform to officiate at the opening ceremonies of the Pond Hockey Classic, but he also spent part of the day calling play-by-play of the action.
