Public open house on Whitebelt plan tonight

November 19, 2015   ·   0 Comments

The Town of Caledon will be hosting an open house and information session on its Whitebelt Visioning Exercise tonight (Thursday).
It will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m, with a formal presentation at 7 p.m. It will be at Brampton Fairground on Heart Lake Road, at Old School Road.
The Whitebelt is the area outside the Greenbelt and existing settlement areas in south Caledon. It makes up about 20 per cent of Caledon.
The Province is planning a 400-series highway to go across the Whitebelt, through what is known as the GTA West Transportation Corridor. Previously, the Town initiated the GTA West Land Use Study to look at future strategic employment lands in the vicinity of the GTA West Transportation Corridor.
The GTA West Land Use Study is being expanded to include visioning for the entire Whitebelt and will look at all land uses including residential, commercial, institutional, employment lands, agricultural and environmental protection. There will be no time-frame specified for the Whitebelt Vision.
