Moose clinging to lead

After eight weeks of action there’s a three-way tie for second place in the Sunday Night Junior Men’s Hockey League.
And the comfortable lead once enjoyed by the Mr. Handyman Moose is shrinking.
Nov. 8
Penguins 6, Wild 2
The George’s Arena Sports Penguins got the feel back and were able to find the back of the net often to take to the win over Pommies Cider Co. Wild.
Net nabbers for the Penguins were Brandon Scott with a pair, and Matt Dowdle, Ron Toffin, Mike Tarasco and Mike Brioux with singles. Assists were from the sticks of Tarasco, Dowdle, Toffin and Sean Devereaux. Wild whippers were Craig Shaw from Mike Swan, and Dan Shaw from Chris Shaw and Shaun Heron.
Warriors 6, Blades 2
In a repeat score from the week before, the We Are Creative Warriors took charge and dulled the Ken’s Lawn Mower Repair Blades.
Warrior lamp lighters were Brent Spagnol from Giancarlo Tarsitano, Bogdan Rapan from Kevin Norris, Tarsitano from Mark Cinonetta, Jordan Bokla from Norris, Rapan from Tarsitano, and Bokla from Tarsitano. Blades’ bin bulgers were Daryll Simpson from Greg Fuller, and Darren Jones from Darren Levy and Steve Smith.
Wings 3, Fire 1
The St. Louis Bar and Grill Red Wings were able to douse the Ainsley Fire team and get the win.
The Wings’ flapper was Victor Ranieri with the hat trick, helped by Brian DeCarli, Daniel Hamlett, Mike D, Chris Quayle and Bob McHardy. Fire’s lone sniper was Steve Whitten from Ryan Wood.
Predators 3, Moose 2
The Inside Out Family Chiropractic Predators took advantage of the Moose and handed them their first loss of the season.
Predator pounders were Steve Hutchins from Ray Ilijasic, John Hutchinson from Fab Iafano and Ryan Smith, and Ilijasic from Colin Fyffe. Moose mesh mashers were Graham Bryson from Brendan Pace, and Cam Coulter (unassisted).
Nov. 1
The previous week marked the fact that all the teams had faced each of their opponents once, as the standings started to tighten.
Moose 1, Wings 1
In a seesaw battle, neither team could best the other this night as both tenders stood tall and only allowed one to slip past them in the 1-1 draw.
The Wings’ lone marksman was Hamlett with the assist going to Ranieri, while the Moose’s man was Eric Cirone from Steve Brown and Coulter.
Warriors 6, Penguins 2
The Warriors used their call-ups to their full extent and took charge of the Penguins.
Finding the back of the net for the Warriors were Cinonetta from Rapan, Brent Spagnol (unassisted), Jody Spagnol (unassisted), Andrew Kirk from Tarsitano, Cinonetta from Tarsitano, and Cinonetta from Tarsitano. Penguin go-to guys were Dale McLean from Toffin, and Dowdle from Toffin and McLean.
Predators 4, Fire 1
The Predators were in predator mode, taking the game to the Fire and getting the win.
Bin bulgers for the Predators were Iafano from Ilijasic, Fyffe from Mike Andreoli, Tim Vokey (unassisted), and Vokey from Mark Metcalfe. The single lamp lighter for the Fire was Sandro Mignosa from Dave DiMeo.
Wild 10, Blades 4
In a wild one, the Wild lived up to their name and took it all to the mat over the Blades.
Getting on the game sheet for the Wild were Alex White (one goal), Swan (two assists), Heron (a goal and assist), Eric Webster (a goal and two assists), Jay Beech (four goals), Dan Shaw (three goals and an assist), Craig Shaw (an assist) and Richard Archer (an assist). The Blades’ grinders were Shawn Simpson (a goal and an assist), Jason Clark (a goal), Daryll Simpson (an assist), Levy (two goals) and Kevin Wigner (an assist).
