Moose pull a bit ahead of pack in junior men’s play

It was an evening of upsets Oct 25 in the Sunday Night Junior Men’s Hockey League.
The league leading Mr. Handyman Moose was the only favoured squad to actually win, knocking off the George’s Arena Sports Penguins.
The Pommies Cider Company Wild posted their first win of the campaign at the expense of Ainsley Fire, the Ken’s Lawnmower Repair Blades doubled the Inside Out Family Chiropractic Predators and the We Are Creative Warriors pulled into a tie for third place by edging the St. Louis Bar and Grill Red Wings.
Moose 5, Penguins 1
The Moose continued on their winning ways with a decisive victory over the Penguins.
Brad Sztorc, from Eric Cirone and Cam Coulter got the Moose on the board first, but Brandon Scott from Matt Dowdle and Dale McLean drew the Penguins even. Graham Bryson from Brendan Pace regained the lead for the Moose, and they never lost it again. Other net nabbers for the Moose were Coulter from Sztorc and Chuck Hughes, Marc de Abaitua from Hughes, and de Abaitua from Coulter to round it out.
Wild 6, Fire 1
Ainsley Fire took the early lead in the game when Robert Silvestri from Ryan Wood found the back of the twine tent.
That was all that the Wild needed to wake up, gain control of the game and march forward to get the win.
The Wild netted a pair late in the first to get the lead and built on it with one in the second and three in the third.
Bin bulgers for the Wild were Mike Swan from Eric Webster and James Sheridan, Webster from Dale Deleonardis and Mike Hamilton, Matt Temple from Jay Beech, Webster from Swan and Dan Shaw, and Craig Shaw from Swan and Webster.
Blades 6, Predators 3
As the night progressed the teams started to narrow the gap in scoring, getting closer games to round things out.
The Blades showed that they can find the back of the net and came back from behind with four in the third to get the win over the Predators.
The Predators’ goal getters were Mike Andreoli (unassisted), Fab Iafano from Tim Vokey and Mike Arnold, and Vokey from Steve Hutchins.
Slashers for the Blades were Daryll Simpson (unassisted), Greg Fuller from Darren Levy and Mark Bauldry, Jason Clark from David Payne and Simpson, Shawn Simpson (unassisted), Levy (unassisted), and Levy from Silvio Muraca and Darren Jones.
Warriors 2, Wings 1
In the tightest match of the night, the Warriors were able to pot one late in the third frame to break the 1-1 stalemate and get the victory over the Wings.
Warrior battlers were Bogdan Rapan from Brent Spagnol, and Brandon Jones from Kevin Norris. The Wings lone flyer was Bob McHardy from Daniel Hamlett and Chris Quayle.
