Bolton Brewers set to close out inaugural GTBL season

Bolton’s AAA baseball representatives may not have had the official inaugural season they were hoping for in the Greater Toronto Baseball League, but a strong finish could be proof that they belong in the highest level of senior baseball.
Only one game was on the docket for last week, with the Brewers playing host to the Leaside Leafs. Matt Blacklaws only made it one inning on the mound, as the Brewers cycled through their pitching staff trying to solve the Leaf bats.
Leaside scored in every inning but the fifth, picking up 16 hits in a 10-5 win. Adam Wallace and Mike Wallace led the run support for the Brewers, each cashing in once off two hits.
Despite the loss, their 7-17-0 record does not really do justice to the Bolton Brewers of late, who have put together two dominating wins this month.
They have played .500 ball since the start of July. Offensively, Mike Wallace has rocketed onto a number of offensive leaderboards, including batting average, hits, and runs, in which he now ranks seventh in the league.
One game remains on the regular season schedule, when the Brewers host the Newmarket Hawks Thursday evening at North Hill Park. First pitch is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
