Fines Ford on a roll in Caledon Senior Hockey League

Fines Ford Lincoln did not get off to a great start in the Caledon Senior Hockey League, but they’ve been making up for it lately.
The guys won their second in a row last Monday (Nov. 17) and are no longer alone at the bottom of the standings.
Led by two goals each from Jack Gibson and Dan Labine, Fines Ford spanked George’s Arena Sports 6-1 at Don Sheardown Memorial Arena, leaving the two teams tied for fifth place with 4-6 records. In other action, Bolton Chiropractic Centre hung on for a 2-1 win over Yale Industrial Trucks that bounced them from fourth to second place in the tight CSHL standing. Rutherford Global Logistics remained in first place with a 5-0 decision over Jiffy Lube Oilers.
Nov. 17
Fines Ford 6, George’s 1
Mike Gasparini, who also had an assist, and John Pallotta scored the other goals for Fines Ford.
Ian Kerr and Danny Avram matched Gibson and Labine in the assists department with two each. Chris Spilar, Bill Davis and Rod Sinclair all had single assists.
Greg MacIssac scored for George’s on a set-up from Ron Sampson.
Bolton Chiropractic 2, Yale 1
David Shoalts scored both goals for the Chiropractors, as Yale’s Greg Morton engaged Vanni DiMarco in a goaltending duel. Howard Wight, Jeff Boyles and Paul Speck had the BCC assists.
Garth Young scored for Yale with John Castellucci and Steve Tarasco doing the spadework.
Rutherford 5,
Jiffy Lube 0
James Heenan scored three goals to spark Rutherford with Peter Coghill clicking with three assists.
Jim Horan and Bill Frolick also scored with single assists going to Romas Krilavicius, Bernie Tisdale, Dave Boyd and Murray Hurst. Darrin Groleau stepped in to sub in goal for Rutherford and picked up a shutout in his CSHL debut.
The previous week saw the upset of the year as Fines whipped the first-place Rutherford crew 7-0.
In the other games, Jiffy Lube downed Bolton Chiropractic 5-2 and Yale beat George’s 6-3.
Nov. 10
Fines Ford 7, Rutherford 0
Six players had two points or more for Fines, while goaltender Pat DiFrancesco registered the shutout and added an assist.
Sinclair scored two goals with John Pitsadiotis adding a goal and two assists. Gasparini chipped in three assists and Gibson had two. Kerr and Labine were good for a goal and an assist each. Spilar and Davis each scored a goal with Dominic Ierullo grabbing one assist.
Jiffy Lube 5,
Bolton Chiropractic 2
Jim Moyer dented the twine twice for Jiffy Lube while Dom Orazio and Steve Sanderson each notched a goal and an assist.
Mike McNamara scored the other goal for the winners. Bill Doherty and Joe Palumbo both had two assists with singles going to Jim Schaefer and Robert Masutti.
Speck and Boyles scored for the Chiropractors with assists going to Bruno Fracassi and Shoalts.
Yale 6, George’s 3
Nick Taccogna had the hot hand for Yale with three goals and an assist.
Joe Guaragna added two goals and Jim Dunbar scored the other one. Tarasco, Castellucci, Young, Randy Freitag and Scott Woodcock all had one assist each.
Rick Geiger led the George’s scorers with two goals and an assist. Jim Rogers added a goal and an assist. Bill Moyer set up two goals with single assists going to Ron Sampson and Gary Faultless.
The previous week had Horan and Tisdale kept Rutherford in first place with their blazing offensive guns in an 11-5 dismantling of George’s.
Horan struck for four goals and three assists while Tisdale ran up eight points on three goals and five assists. That widened Rutherford’s lead in the tight CSHL standings to two points over Bolton Chiropractic, which downed Fines 5-2. In the other game, Yale Industrial Trucks created a three-way tie for third place with a 5-3 win over Jiffy Lube Oilers.
